Golaghat town has a number of tourist places and is located amidst beautiful tea gardens and greenery so one can easily travel to Golaghat from Jorhat town to relax and enjoy nature. Tourists can enjoy the beautiful sight of tea gardens along the road with the sweet smell of tea leaves as they approach Golaghat. Tourists can visit the Kaziranga Wildlife Sanctuary in Golaghat, the UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for the one horned Rhinoceros species found here. Apart from that, one can also witness the varied flora and fauna species found in the sanctuary.
In addition to these, one can also visit the Doss & Co., the historic departmental store in Golaghat which is the oldest departmental store of Assam. MajuliMajuli, the largest river island located near Jorhat, is one of the best places to visit from the Jorhat town. The river island situated on the mighty river Brahmaputra has a number of Satras built by Mahapurush Shrimanta Shankardeva, Madhabdeva and their disciples. These Satras were built by their Vaishnavite scholars to preach and propagate Vaishnavism. Tourists can visit Satras like Dakhinpat Satra, Garamukh Satra and Kamalabari Satra among others and experience the rich cultural essence of them. There is also Nambor Reserve forest in Majuli which can be visited by tourists when they visit Majuli. The reserve forest has varied flora and fauna and tourists will also get to view the large number of migratory birds flocking from different parts of the world here. One can reach Majuli by ferries and boats available from Nemati Ghat in Jorhat.

Weekend Trip to Sibsagar from Jorhat


Rang GharThe historic town of Sibsagar, located 56 kms from Jorhat town, is another best place one can visit from Jorhat. The town has many tanks, embankments and temples built during the Ahom rule. The Shiva Dol, Vishnu Dol, and Devi Dol are three of the main temples of Sibsagar situated near the Borpukhuri tank. The Joypukhuri Tank is another important historic embankment built by Ahom ruler Swargadeo Rudra Singha during his rule. In addition to that, tourists can also visit the historic sites like Kareng Ghar, Talatal Ghar and Rang Ghar which were built as amphitheatres and grounds for playing games during Ahom rule.  One can reach Sibsagar town by taxis, wingers and buses available round the clock from Jorhat town.
